Wooden Objects

Apple Wood Bark Edged Bowl
This seemed to work well with great grain conflict as this was the junction of three stems.
As always, click on any image to see the full image.
Elipse Apple Wood Bowl
Thought I would try it with less tree and more wood.
Elipse Cherry Wood Bowl
Same shape but Cherry this time.
Hawthorn bowl
Flowery edged bowl
Hawthorn Bowl 2
Fluted trunk/branches as made a pleasing shape
Tall Hawthorn Bowl
Made with a longer back for a bit more interest.
Tall Hawthorn bowl 2
Another longer back and same oil used but what a difference in colour.
Open form Hawthorn bowl
I tried just leaving the carving marks in and not oiling.
Sam’s bowl…..
Convoluted Cyprus Tree slice
This section was sanded and used for guests at a wedding to write a note to the happy couple.
Scarf tree
Yew trunk with side branches. All I did was peel off the bark when it was green then curve the end of the branches. The finish is great and so easy.
Rake handle
Stick/handle from Hazlenut. So simple but really useful.
Hand rail
Made from one piece of Contorted Willow. Just barked stripped off and left unvarnished.
Cutting Disc
I made this to do most of the carving. The tungsten Carbide Button tips can be replaced and rotated to give a pleasing amount of control.
Coasters
Cyprus branch with off-centre rings which make them look like petals.
Easter Island Head
What else do you think of doing when you’re trying out your new chainsaw carving bar?
Flat pack woodsman furniture
Chair and table.  Not really designed for easy movement but for ease of assembly.  No screws or fixings required.

Oak practice bowls
These were just practice pieces before I found what I was looking for in the final Oak bowl.

  Oak bowl

The one I was happy with.

  Yew bowl or Elephant foot?

   What do you think?

  Yew bookshelf/coat hanger

I wanted a clothes hanger, hence all the branch hooks. But I was told it’s better as a book shelf!
